This Taxes & Fees Policy explains the types of charges that may apply to your booking through Journey Hopper, including government taxes, airline surcharges, and agency service fees.
1. Overview
The total cost of your travel booking may include multiple components beyond the base airfare. We disclose all known fees before you complete payment. Some optional charges may be collected directly by airlines at the airport or during travel.
2. Government taxes
Airline tickets may include taxes and fees imposed by government authorities:
- Federal excise taxes and segment fees (U.S. domestic travel)
- International departure and arrival taxes
- Security fees and passenger facility charges
- Customs and immigration-related surcharges where applicable
Tax amounts vary by route, destination, and applicable regulations. They are set by government authorities, not by Journey Hopper.
3. Airline surcharges & carrier fees
- Fuel surcharges or carrier-imposed fees
- Airport improvement fees
- Baggage fees for checked or excess luggage
- Seat selection, priority boarding, or upgrade fees
- Change and cancellation penalties per fare rules
Optional airline fees not included in the base fare are typically collected by the airline directly.
4. Agency service fees
Journey Hopper may charge a service fee for phone-based booking assistance, itinerary changes, or cancellation support. These fees:
- Are disclosed to you before any charge is processed
- Are separate from airline fares, taxes, and carrier penalties
- May be non-refundable once the requested service has been completed
5. Payment processing
Your bank or credit card issuer may apply foreign transaction fees or currency conversion charges for international bookings. Journey Hopper does not control or benefit from these third-party charges.
6. Tax & fee changes
Airlines and government authorities may revise applicable taxes, airport charges, or surcharges at any time. If such changes occur after ticket issuance,Journey Hopper is not responsible for differences imposed by external entities.
7. Refund of taxes & fees
Whether taxes and fees are refundable upon cancellation depends on airline fare rules and government regulations. Some taxes may be refundable while agency service fees may not. See our Refund Policy for details.
8. Final price confirmation
Your itemized total—including base fare, taxes, surcharges, and disclosed agency fees—is presented before you confirm payment. By completing your booking, you acknowledge acceptance of all applicable charges.
